Dancing For Dollars!!! Successful Event;
Get On The Bus
Here are all the photos from our great event held
Sunday July 20th 2014 at the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, sponsored by The Church of the Nativity Men's Club and Knights of Columbus, St. James the Greater Council 12749.
First of all we would like to thank Deacon Jim Walsh for his assistance in getting the whole thing started. Without his influence and introductions we would have not begun this journey to success.
Thanks to the leadership of the Nativity Men's Club of Craig Ryall, Ross Larson, Charlie Bleiler, Jim Esposito, Chuck Schmitt. They kept us on mission throughout.
I would like to give credit to our photo/videographer Emilio Azevedo for capturing all of the elements of this event so we have the right material to demonstrate how much fun we had, and to build a bigger better event the next time.
We had just under 60 diner - dancers enjoying the wonderful buffet dinner provided by Michelle Surrell and the FRCC staff.
This fundraiser generated $10,000 in proceeds directly to Get On the Bus our chosen cause. The RJBB was proud to contribute $1750 to that total. Normally the food and entertainment is the biggest cost and the biggest loss in a dinner dance gala event. Our Dancing For Dollars fund-raising model proved that those elements can also be made a profit center.
The efforts of Paul and Maria McEneany who's masterful knowledge and management of the silent auction along with Brian Brady's articulate descriptive presentation as Emcee Auctioneer, Deacon Peter Hodsdon impassioned plea, made the significant difference in the grand total proceeds.
Most of all I'd like to thank Ed Badrak who as a member of the Church of the Nativity Music Ministry, The Nativity Men's Club and a great trombone player of our band, harnessed his passion for all three and made this event happen, in spite of all the obstacles thrown his way.
He didn't even let open heart surgery and the recovery stand in his way. Now that's a hero by any measure!!!! Thank you Ed. Without you this event would have been canceled. With you we all can bask in the rays of it's success.
Thanks again to all,
MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT
Get On The Bus is a program of The Center for Restorative Justice Works, a non-profit organization that unites children, families and communities separated by crime and the criminal justice system.
An annual event, Get On The Bus offers free transportation for the children and their caregivers to the prison.
Each child is provided a travel bag, a photo with his or her parent, and meals for the day (breakfast, snacks, lunch at the prison, and dinner). On the trip home, a teddy bear with a letter from their parent and post-event counseling.
Please help us raise the funds necessary to reunite these children with their parents, to build stronger family ties, and build a better world, one child at a time.
We would like to thank the members of the Rockin Jazz Big Band for producing- underwriting this event and offering the opportunity to accomplish these worthwhile objectives for our cause as well as many small non-profit organizations throughout Southern California. The generosity of their time, talents and treasure to underwrite this event make it possible.
